About Casa Grande



Casa Grande is a city in Pinal County, Arizona and is located approximately halfway between the cities of Phoenix and Tucson off of the I-10 Interstate Highway. It is also approximately 135 miles to Nogales, AZ the nearest community to Mexico, following the I-19 S route.

Casa Grande is known for its commercial and residential growth, retail and accommodation options, stable local economy, dedicated City and County governments, wide range of services including outstanding medical care, employment opportunities, affordable housing, and much more. According to the U.S. Census estimates, the population of the city is 69,902 in 2024. Winter residents add about 20,000 to the population each season.

Pinal County is in the Mountain time zone (GMT -7). The State of Arizona does not adjust for Daylight Savings Time. The elevation is 1,398 feet. Casa Grande temperatures range from a high/low of 65°F/40°F in the peak of winter and 105°F/79°F in the peak of summer. Casa Grande gets 9 inches of rain and 0 inches of snow, on average, per year. The city was founded in 1879 and incorporated in 1915. Originally named Terminus for being at the end of the railroad line, it was renamed Casa Grande in 1880 for the nearby ruins at the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument.   These ruins date back about 700 years ago (AD1300-1350) and were built by the Hohokam Indians. The largest city in Pinal County, Casa Grande is home to an array of thriving industries, including distribution and manufacturing.

There are many points of interest in the Casa Grande area. If you are a history buff there are a variety of museums; The Museum of Casa Grande, the Casa Grande Art Museum and the Pioneer Heroes Museum. There is also the nearby Casa Grande Ruins National Monument and a Historic Downtown with restaurants, and community events.

Sports have a strong link to the history of Casa Grande and there are Sport Tournaments and Leagues for youth and adults of all ages. A new Community Recreation Center was completed in May 2019. The city has 19 city parks and 17 miles of mountain hiking and biking trails. For golf enthusiasts there is a local option of Dave White Municipal Golf Course or a short driving distance to many golf course offerings in the area.  The Palm Island Family Aquatic Park featuring a 150' water slide, several pools, and an Aqua Climb Wall.

The two library branches offer educational and cultural programs and classes. The Dorothy Powell Senior Center offers programing and resources for seniors. There are popular annual special events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Family Fright Night, and the Electric Light Parade.
