Smoke Signal for December 2019

DECEMBER 2019

SMOKE SIGNAL

Sundance 1 RV Resort

From the Manager’s Desk –

The year is flying by and we are so happy you are spending your winter with us, here at Sundance. We are looking forward to all the festivities December brings, both here in the park & the city of Casa Grande.

We are working hard to get projects completed and appreciate the patience you have shown.

  • The big dog park is getting fenced in and is on target for completion is very soon.  We will also be installing a pre-entry area in the smaller dog park to make it easier for entering and exiting.

Everyone appreciates the responsible dog owner. Please respect other residents and guests and don’t let your pet ‘relieve’ themselves on another site, there are areas around all the retention ponds, soon 2 dog parks, as well as the canal area between Sundance 1 & 2. Don’t forget to pick up after your pups and dispose of the waste properly.

  • The new RV sites out by the Sports Complex are making headway and hope to have that area wrapped up and completed yet this season.

Be sure to take time to enjoy the amenities of Sundance and attend the many activities, classes, and functions offered. There is something for everyone! Get involved, meet new people and make this season one to remember.

We wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe & Happy New Year!

Kate & Tom

Activities –

Every Monday morning, we have the Sundance Round Up meeting. The meeting is held at 8:30am sharp at the Hole in the Wall. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you are short timer or long timer. This is a great way to learn about what is happening at the park along with upcoming events. Coffee, tea, and morning munchies are available. We do try to have a speaker every Monday and door prizes too. We hope to see you there.

Calendars for the current month and for all rooms are available in Activities. We do revise them periodically, so do check the date on the calendars to make sure you have the most current up to date version. Dance/Entertainment schedule are now available for December through March in Activities. Check the Events Calendar on Sundance 1 RV Resort web page for dance and entertainment listings as well.

We are a scent free park and we ask that you please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne during your stay at Sundance. As we age, our nose becomes less sensitive to the power of our fragrances yet others with medical challenges may be severely affected. You will be asked to leave an event, whether indoors or out, so you can remove your perfume or cologne.  Thank you for your cooperation.

A huge thank you to the Activity Coordinators and monitors who are doing a great job to have their rooms open multiple hours during the week and even on Saturdays. With our increasing population this effort is allowing more residents to learn new skills and hobbies.

Sundance is float #23 in the Casa Grande Electric Light Parade on Sat. Dec. 7. Come and watch the parade, cheer us on, and make sure you vote for #23. Our theme is Sundance 1 RV Resort Wishes You Peace & Love. Our goal is to have a bright, original float with 4-6 walkers sporting hearts and peace signs. If you would like to be in the parade stop by Activities for more info. It’s a beautiful event that draws thousands of people. Vote for #23!  Float assembly is being done on #601 and your help is appreciated.

Come and celebrate the wonderful life of Candy Mayo on Wednesday Dec.11 at the Hole in the Wall at 2pm. If you have a fond memory or funny story please contact Alan 970-371-4030. Candy was a Sundance resident who was the Coordinator of the Fiction and Non-fiction book clubs here at the park. She was also passionate about supplying books to the local Head Start program. Snacks are welcome.

New Year’s Eve will feature dinner and the Campbell’s Band at the Hole in the Wall. We will have 3 ticket options: Dinner/Dance $30 per person, Dinner only $25 per person, Dance only $15 per person. Menu is 12 oz. Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, broccoli or garlic green beans, roll, dessert, coffee or ice tea. Dinner will be served 4-6pm. Doors will open for the dance at 7:30pm. Band plays from 8p to 12am. Sundance and Fairways residents have until Dec. 10 to sign up before we open this event to the public. For safety reasons we are limiting the dance to 300 attendees. Party favors, mixers, and ice are included for dance portion of evening. Soda and water will be available for purchase.

Safety first! Please watch your speed and stop at all marked intersections in the park. This does apply to all vehicles, golf carts, and bikes. Several residents have voiced concern over near misses. Our traffic and population are increasing and we want everyone to have a safe season.

f you’re interested in travel, Tami Weber has her business card in Activities for your convenience.

On behalf of the Activities Team,

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !

Pool 1 & 2 –

It is so important and good pool etiquette to shower before you enter the pool. You can shower in the restroom/shower house across from pool 1 or at the pool area. Pool 2 has an outside shower as well.  If you wear water shoes in the pools, please wear them in the pools only. Wearing water shoes to and from the pool increases the risk of contamination. It isn’t easy to keep our pools clean and chemical balances in check. Failure to shower or contaminants on water shoes will affect test results and may cause closure of the pools. Let’s all work to keep our pools crystal clear and open for everyone to enjoy.
